The MGA publishes Commercial Communications Guidelines

Commercial Communications play a crucial role in the economy. The following guidelines outline the standard by which all commercial communications must adhere to. The scope of these applicable rules is to ensure player protection.

Key highlights

The Malta Gaming Authority (MGA) has set up a Commercial Communications Committee to ensure compliance with the Gaming Commercial Communications Regulations (S.L. 583.09). The Committee’s main responsibilities will include reviewing commercial communications and evaluating whether any breaches have taken place.

Regulator issues Advertising Guidelines

The MGA has also published the Commercial Communications Guidelines as part of its efforts to encourage responsible gaming. The Guidelines are to be read in conjunction with the Regulations to provide guidance to operators of licensable games and their collaborators. Apart from elaborating on the general obligations and limitations related to commercial communications, the Guidelines clarify the scope of the Regulations and provide guidance on the implementation of the Regulations including those relating to responsible gaming, protection of minors and vulnerable persons, sponsorships, misleading and unfair promotional schemes.
