New measures aimed at reducing the spread of Covid-19 – 1

The Minister for Health announced a number of new restrictions on Monday 17th August aimed at reducing the spread of Covid-19, in light of an increase in new cases. The respective legal notices have been published and will be coming into force between the 19th and 28th August.

Legal Notice 333 of 2020 – Mandatory Tests for Certain Travellers Regulations, 2020 (18/08/2020)

By virtue of this Legal Notice, all travellers coming from the ‘amber list’ of countries must provide a negative Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) COVID-19 test which was performed no longer than seventy-two hours before arrival. Travellers who fail to provide such test may be required to undergo testing in Malta and may be subject to a quarantine order issued by the Superintendent of Public Health. The countries which are included in the list are Bulgaria, Romania and Spain. These regulations shall come into force on Saturday 22nd August 2020. The list will be updated on a weekly basis.
